COMMISSION: PROCESS AND PRICES

1. Select what you would like a painting or drawing of

I am so glad that you are interested in commissioning a painting! I love creating unique and beautiful pieces of art for my clients. There are many options when it comes to the content of your future artwork. Some examples include portraits, landscapes, or abstract color fields, as well as any other ideas or visions you may have. If you like a particular piece of art that I have previously completed, I can also replicate or complete a variation of that piece. If you're new to my website, please look through my paintings to get a better idea of what I do.

2. Select the format - support, size, and medium

Once you have decided upon the content for your project, you can begin choosing your desired format - support: what the image is made on, size: the size of the support, medium: what is used to make the image. Support options include paper, canvas or panel. Standard support sizes can be found below, though I am happy to make custom size artwork as well. Mediums include pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, acrylic paint, and oil paint. If you are not sure what support, size, or medium would be best for your image, I am happy to offer my ideas and expertise when making the decision.

Standard support sizes: 8"x 10", 9"x 12", 11"x 14" ,12"x 16", 14"x 17", 16"x 20", 18"x 24", 24"x 36"

3. Payment

I ask for a $100 non-refundable deposit to begin preliminary work on your project. If you choose to proceed after the preliminary sketches, your deposit will go toward the final price of the artwork. A 50% deposit is required at that time. The remaining 50% will be paid upon completion of the project. For ideas on prices and formats, take a look at the list at the bottom of the page.

4. Production time

Upon receiving the $100 deposit, I will begin work on the initial sketches and consultation regarding the project. This time frame can vary. Once you have chosen a composition and decided to proceed with the 50% initial deposit, the estimated delivery time for pencil, charcoal, pastel or watercolor is about 5-6 weeks. Acrylic or oil paintings require about 3-6 months depending on the size and content.

5. Delivery

After commissioning your painting, we can discuss the best delivery method. Some options may include self pick-up, packaging and shipping, or hand delivery. Payment will vary depending on which option we decide upon.
